Here’s the 2018 Activities line up for Moosehead Lake:
April 1: Maine Fishing Open Water Season Begins in area ponds.
April 1: Application Deadline for Maine Moose Hunting permit. Applications available from Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife (207) 287-8000
April 21 – Annual Piscataquis River Canoe Event. This 8 mile run starts in Guilford and ends in Dover/Foxcroft. Racers compete in over 20 racing and recreational classes for canoes and kayaks. This is an American Canoe Association Maine Event. For more information contact SPCC at 207.564.7533. Sightseeing along the river, watch paddlers, and take in the beautiful scenery.
May: Moose Watching Tours – Land and water based tours. Tours are offered throughout the season thru October.
May 31: Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonies, Greenville and other locations.
June 2 and 3, 2018 – Maine Free Fishing Weekend
Mid-June: Strawberry season is here! Berry-picking farms open to the public. Stutzman’s Farms
June 9 – Moose River Canoe Race– annual 8 mile race from Brassua Lake to Moosehead Lake.
June 23, 2018 : Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, Dover Foxcroft Maine
June 23 : Mooosehead Area Artisans Show – Save The Depot – Greenville, Maine
Moosehead Lake Hiking destinations: Eagle Rock, Wilson Falls, Gulf Hagus, Katahdin Iron Works, Big Moose, Little Moose, Number Four Mt., White Cap Mt., Borestone Mountain, and more. Pinnacle Pursuit Hiking Maine Event
June 19-Sept 27: Moosehead Historical Society– Docent guided tours being Wednesday-Friday from 1pm-4pm.
June 24 : Kennebec River Race – .. the Great Kennebec River Whatever Race, a floating six-mile race from Family Festival Bangor – Augusta
June 27 to Oct 15th: Katahdin Sightseeing Cruises on Moosehead Lake – Tues – Sat
June 25 : Bike and Boat Moosehead Lake, Maine Event – Bikers travel 19.5 miles to Rockwood and return on Moosehead Lake aboard the Katahdin Steamship. Family and team members. Fund raiser for CA Dean Hospital.
July 6th : Thursday Evening – Free Music Concert at Greenville’s Gazebo 7pm to 9pm
July 2 : Woodsman Breakfast 7am – 10am – Cardboard Boat Regatta 12pm Event at Red Cross Beach, Katahdin Cruise 12 – 3:30
July 4: Town of Greenville Fourth of July Celebration: Craft Fair 9am to 5pm – Parade at 11am from Greenville Junction down Pritham Avenue – Fireworks display over Moosehead Lake at Rockwood Cottages beginning at dusk..
July 5 – Mid August: Maine Woods Explorers outdoor learning, ages 8-14, Little Explorers: Friday events 7/14, 7/21 and 8/4 – Pre-registration required at NREC Center.
July 6 and 7 : Moosehead Lake Event by Yacht Club – Vintage and Classic Boat Show- Conservation of boats, canoes, and kayaks. This is a boat show year..
July 8, 2018 – Tilted Tea Party – Save the Depot– Reservations for Tea party in ladies waiting room with china dishes and English Tea Menu at The Depot
July 19th to 21st- Moosehead Lake Greenville Maine Festival – Thoreau – Wabanaki Festival – Greenville cultural awareness with Chewonki Owls, 7/12 at 7pm Birding with Bob at Historical Society, event on Allagash waterway, BBQ and Music 5pm – 8pm On Lawn across from Moosehead Center for History enjoy the evening with Erica Brown and Bluegrass Connection, 7/15 11am, Owls of Maine Event, 2pm, Bats of Maine Event, 6pm, Penobscot Drumming and Flintknapping tool making of flint and importance of Mt Kineo. July 29th: Depot Maine Event Moosehead – Dogs for the Depot – “Woofstock” 10:00AM – 12:00PM
August 3 : Thursdays : Outdoor Music Concerts in Greenville Maine at the Gazebo first of August Series
August 11- 12 : Greenville Maine Event – Forest Heritage Days – Logging event 2 day celebration of Maine’s most historic industry. educational event about foresting the Maine North Woods. Woods tours, educational exhibits, craft fair, and logging competition. A top event in Greenville, Maine one not to be missed.
August 24: Forrest G. Whitman Memorial Golf Tournament- Moosehead Lake Kineo Golf Course from 8am – 3pm
August 11 – 20th: Skowhegan State Fair
August 18 : Save the Depot Event – Free Maine Event – Annual Celebration cultural and artistic celebration with music, historical tours, raffles, sales railroad reunion and MOOSEBURGER BBQ fundraiser.
September 6 – 9 2018 : International Seaplane Fly-In – Walk / Run 5K starts at 8am – Fly In Cruises on the Kate steamship throughout the day
October: Audubon Society Borestone Mountain Walk-a-thon. Help us preserve this beautiful mountain.
